About Us
Hi, I’m Mary, the founder of The Happy Food Company, and the human behind the hampers.
This little business was born during a time when the world felt upside down. In April 2020, my mum who lives in a care home, was admitted to hospital with Covid. Thankfully, she recovered and came home after two weeks, but that experience changed everything.
To say thank you, my brother and I dropped off Easter eggs to the hospital staff, and also to the carers at Mum’s care home. It was a small gesture, but their smiles and joy over something so simple filled me with that warm, fuzzy, “this-matters” feeling.
And that’s when it clicked: food brings comfort. Gifting brings joy. Why not turn that feeling into something more?
The Heart Behind the Hampers
I started The Happy Food Company. with one goal: to brighten someone’s day. Whether it’s a birthday, a care package, or a surprise “just because,” I believe a thoughtful food hamper can lift spirits, spark a smile, and connect people, especially when we can’t always be together.
I love picking a theme, like “Self-Care in a Box” or “Movie Night Snacks”, then hunting down delicious goodies from quality suppliers. (Perks of the job: I get to taste test everything. Downside: I now live at the gym.)
Each hamper is hand-packed with care, good vibes, and the occasional chocolate fingerprint (don’t worry, I wipe it off).
A Bit About Me
If you met me, you’d probably hear my laugh before you see me. I’m one of those overly chipper morning people. I make jokes constantly, mostly to make others feel at ease, and sometimes just to make myself giggle.
I’ve got a sweet tooth that could rival a child’s birthday party, balanced out (just about) by a love of body weight training, Spartan races and long walks.
Why I Do What I Do
I don’t see this as just a business, it’s a way to spread joy, kindness, and the simple magic of a treat at the right time.
If one of my hampers makes someone smile, laugh, or just feel a little more loved, then I’ve done my job.
